Transitioning from vegetarian to vegan

I became a vegetarian when I was 17.

I decided to do it rapidly as I was a big lover of meat and just wanted to get it done. So, one day in November, I decided to go through with this idea.

I have had chicken five or six times since I have become a vegetarian, I am definitely not perfect. Chicken is literally the only kind of meat that I occasionally crave.

Vegetarianism is not a prison nor a punishment. If I want to eat it, I do. Although, this doesn’t happen that often I sometimes do try bits of chicken.

For the rest of the time, I am left with cheese, Quorn frozen food and bread.

There was even a time that I was so done with the food I was eating. It all tasted of the same, I was not enjoying eating or nourishing my body.

I started doing more creative dishes but nothing was truly working for me. I was just eating for the sake of it. I started relying more and more on cheese and bread. Definitely not healthy no matter how much veg you eat with your meals.

I decided to cut cheese completely.

What a change.

‘This was the reason why I never really became a vegan. If I could finally take the cheese out of my diet…could this be…I could become VEGAN’

Cheese is highly addicting, it was hard but I can say that I haven’t eaten any in two weeks. Except for that time my friend Evaristo made mozzarella with tomato because how could I say no.

Anyhow, I have been trying more stuff and aspire to take frozen foods out of my diet. How exciting.

I don’t have uni anymore so there should be no excuses.

I shall continue on my quest for vegan stuff and recipes and am very excited about the creativity of it all. Four years always eating the same really made a toll on me.

I’ll keep ya posted!
