Coco | View Review

I watched this movie as soon as it came out but I have just rewatched it and I thought it was important to talk about it.

It came out in 2017 and it is for me one of my favourite animation movies. I love to feel nostalgia and this movie gets me there everytime.

If you don’t have any prior knowledge about this movie then let me explain.

Coco is an animation movie produced by Disney-Pixar that goes around the topic of death in a fun and dynamic way. It talks about losing someone you care about and the importance of remembering those that have passed away. It speaks very closely to my heart.

It also involves a lot of music and funny moments that only Disney-Pixar can provide.

The talk about death can be dawting to parents and their kids but this movie can make that talk so much easier. It is something that affects everyone and some of us feel it from a young age and I think it is essential to talk about it.

With a compelling story that engages all ages, this movie is a must-watch for everyone.

My reaction everytime I see the picture above.

I am also always amazed by the art style and talent revolving it. Whenever I would see this frame my jaw would drop. I mean…from a design and art perspective I can’t even imagine the work that went into it.

I also am not one to watch movies more than once but this one I really don’t mind watching it many times. Everytime I watch it there’s something I didn’t catch the first, second, third time I watched it. A true Easter egg hunt.

The ending is beautiful and unexpected and the songs are breath taking (because I sobb everytime I listen to them).

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it is a masterpiece but it is definitely one of my favourite animation movies.

List of other favourited animation movies:

  • Shrek (the first one, then it kinda went wild).
  • Flushed away (completely underrated but incredibly funny).
  • Up! (of course).
  • Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (I love the Aardman studios).

List of recommended animation movies:

  • Inside out (very whimsical and fun but you either love it or hate it).
  • Wall.E (absolutely vital to watch it to bring awareness on future consequences of human behaviour).
  • Ratatouille (a classic).
  • Big hero 6 (just super cute and also deals with loss).

Now it’s your turn. What are some of your favourite animations? I really want to know. Leave a comment!
